Contents Page progress

When creating my contents page I recieved feeback during the  process of creating it to help me improve it and make it better and more proffessional. The image above shows what may be a final image for my contents page for my magazine. However, it took me a few improvements before i first got to this stage. In all of my designs I had the 3 images along the top of the page, with the brand in the top left hand corner and the contents title going along the right hand of the page horizontally. However, to start with I had a plain white background. With putting the pink and slightly yellow/white colour gradient, it draws attention to the reader easier and helps the contents page to stand out more. Also the use of pink links the contents page with the rest of the magazine as the main house theme colour of the magazine is pink. The brand being in the top left hand corner sticks to the norms of a typical magazine as in my research I found that brands are followed through the magazine and this helps it to link together easier.

In the first image that is displayed, I placed three images down the left hand side of the opage, next to my main article image. I found that placing these images there did not make the magazine look as proffessional and also the images were different sizes and some were placed horizontally and some verticlaly and so this did not fit with my design very well. Placing the images here did not make the contents page very consistant with the layout and it make it look wuite messy and as if I had rushed and just placed them in this place quickly.

In the second design, I have placed an editors note. Looking through reserach on contents magazines, I found that on many magazine contents pages they had an editors note in whcih the producer of the magazine and designer make a little note speaking to the readers of the magazine. I felt that this might be a good idea for my magazine as it woul dhelp it look more like a propper magazine and make it look more proffessional. I first placed this on the left hand side of the page where I had initially placed the other three images. I felt that placing the editors note here did not give me enough space for an image or some other information and a signature to include. It also looked as though it was put out of place. I decided to keep the idea of the editors note, yet place it at the bottom of the page instead of the left third of the page and this looks better as it is not in the way of any other information. It is placed out of the way and in a place where I can include more features for the editors note and alos any other features I wanted to place on the contents page.
